Current Project

Bruce, this is the completed top section of the window. The photo does not show the colors properly, but they do match the sample of your wallpaper beautifully. The roses and scrolls match the cranberry / mauve color in your wallpaper, and the border glass contains all the colors that are in the wallpaper. 123 pieces, hand cut, ground, foiled, soldered (both sides) and finished with charcoal patina on the solder and a glass finishing compound to shine the solder and glass.

Pattern is traced on the glass, ready to hand cut. After the piece is cut, the edges of every piece are ground smooth on a grinder. After the entire cutting process is completed, the next step is to hand wrap each piece of glass with copper foil.
We selected a highly textured background glass with tremendous sparkle that resembles Waterford Leaded Crystal.
It looks stunning against the blues, greens and cranberry colors of the window.

"Belle Femme" is coming to life! Border & outside background complete in this photo. Cranberry / Mauve scrolls to be added next. When we cut, we work from the outside toward the center. The highly textured glass is the most difficult to work with. We usually end up with at least several cuts, and many glass chards are flying through the air as we grind. The end result however, is always unique and results in a spectacular piece of original art glass.

Dress cut in a textured, sparkling cranberry/ mauve glass, as of Wed. June 14th evening. We will start the hair tomorrow. The necklace will contain the birthstones of the family members. We are nicely on schedule with this project, and I will call you to plan the delivery date when we are completed. I know Ginger's birthday is on the 7th of July.

Bruce, All copper foiling is applied to each piece and entire soldering is done on one side. We "turned it over today" (this is the risky part) and all went well, no cracks. The other side will be soldered tomorrow, Monday June 26th. I'm sorry the colors are not displaying well in this photo. Final steps are applying zinc edging and soldering at all contact points, neutralizing, cleaning, and applying patina and glass wax. We anticipate finishing by Thursday June 29th. I'll call you mid week to plan the delivery date.

Hi Anna and Sue, Here we are tracing the pattern on to the glass.

Hand cutting the traced piece of glass

Grinding each individual piece to fit perfectly

Anna and Sue, This is the design change we made at the bottom of the window. We think it will look much better than the original plain version. You can see the background glass
progressing in this photo.

Opalescent background is completed! Now on to the shield border. We ordered the 9 jewels last Wed., they should be here Monday. We will be completing the leaves, bud, and roses after the shield border. I reduced the size of the photos by 25% and had success with loading them tonight, Saturday.

Leaves, buds, jewels (arrived Tuesday) and border in place. You can see the cellophane tape holding the pieces together. The colors do not appear accurate in the photo, the buds and leaves look very colorful against the opalescent background glass. When we pull it from the work board, it will look alive. Every leaf and bud was carefully placed on a specific area of glass for a reason. When we complete the cutting, we will review the compostion to be sure you (and we) are satisfied with the art glass. Next update will be when the cutting is completed, Wed. or Thursday am. We will call you prior to beginning the soldering operation.

Hi Anna Claire,
I almost didn't want to post this picture because the glass colors just do not show. The colors in the Fleur De Leis show beautifully in real life. The mauves and blues don't display at all in this photo. There are six mauve /pink buds among the green leaves as well. You will be surprised when you see all the color in the real window. Tomorrow, the roses will be done, then we will start to foil. We hope Tuesday noon
14th or Wed.noon 15th will work for a delivery day for you and Sue.

Hi Anna Claire,
Here is the final picture of the Fleur De Lis Rose being patinaed. The next time you see it, it will be in your house. Hope you and Sue had a good trip and we will see you at noon Wed. 15th.

Hi Leah,
Your "Victorian Welcome" is coming along nicely. We will finish cutting the hat flowers tomorrow, Thursday. It will be a very nice piece when completed and I think you will be very happy with it. The glass color choices are looking very good in real life.
