ABOUT US...
The
Herb Shed was
founded in 1989 out of a love of herbs, flowers and gardening and the desire
to have a business of my own. We started small and grew slowly year
by year. Knox is a small rural community in Western Pennsylvania
and, in 1989, not many people grew or used herbs. So education has
been a big part of what we do. I have had the opportunity to teach
classes at Clarion University of Pennsylvania, The Cook Forest Sawmill
Center for the Arts, Elder hostel and, of course, The Herb Shed.
Growing remains one of the
most important parts of the business. Starting seeds in the greenhouse
is still one of my greatest pleasures. The wonderful fragrance when
you walk through one of the gardens is another treat. As I get older,
we have had to simplify some of the gardens, but I never tire of seeing
the miracle of nature.
