The Rev. William K. Reid

1955-1962

The Rev. William K. Reid was born in Adrian, Pennsylvania on April 15,1907. He graduated from Brookville High School in 1924, and from Allegheny College in 1928, with a Bachelor Of Arts degree. Rev. Reid graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law on June 9, 1931 with LL.B. Degree. He was admitted to the courts of Crawford County, Pennsylvania Supreme and Superior Courts, and Federal Courts in the fall of 1931 after passing the Pennsylvania State Bar exams. He practiced law in the city of Meadville, Pennsylvania until he became ordained.

He married Florence Alyse Roha and they had two children, William K. Reid, Jr., and Robert L. Reid.

He began study for the Holy Orders in 1948, under a special seminary for older men, by the Bishop of Erie and the Examining Chaplains. He was ordained as Deacon on November 12, 1950, and was ordained as priest, at the Church of the Epiphany of Grove City, under Bishop Sawyer on September 19th, 1951. He transferred to the Northwestern Pennsylvania Diocese on May 24th, 1952.

Reverend Reid became the rector of St. James in 1955, serving faithfully until February 2, 1962. He transferred to the Diocese of Maine after leaving St. James. He served at St. Alban's, in Cape Elizabeth, a parish located southwest from Portland, Maine, from 1962-1968. From 1968 until he retired in 1972, he served at St. George's in York Harbor, which is a coastal town located near New Hampshire.

He later returned to the area, living in Meadville, Pennsylvania until he passed away in the fall of 1987.
