The Rev. William Hamilton Morgan

1904-1908

The Rev. William Hamilton Morgan of Fredonia, New York was called to be rector of St. James Memorial Episcopal Church in May of 1904. He began his work at St. James in September of that year. Rev. Morgan was a forceful preacher and able administrator and the church continued to grow under his leadership.

Owing to the ill-health of his wife, the rector was granted a six month leave of absence in 1905-1906. During his absence, the Rev. J.V. Lewis, D.D. was engaged as locum tenens.

Reverend Morgan resigned to take effect September 1st 1908. In all his work, Rev. Morgan was ably assisted by his charming wife.

William Morgan passed away in Norwalk, Connecticut, where he is buried. His wife died later in London, Ontario.
