Sandy Creek

Sandy Creek and Little Sandy Creek are great trout streams in Venango County. They can be reached by taking Route 62 from Franklin to the village of Polk. They are stock with trout.

Little Sandy is a fly fishing only stream bordering the Polk Center. The steam follows route 62 near Polk center. The fly-fishing only section starts at the water works on Polk center ground and end near where it enters Big Sandy.

Big Sandy follows route 62 west of Polk until you reach Wallace corners. It then follows the railroad grade. This may become a bike trail. At the head of Sandy are Lake Wilhelm and Sandy Lake. I am told this stream is under fished. Sandy enters the Allegheny River near Fisherman’s Cove.
