Don's Picket Pin

*************************

This fly is tied on a Mustad 9671 2x long hook. Start the fly by tying the thread at the eye of the hook and winding it to the bend. The tail is formed by tying 5 strands of flash bow at the bend

Tie four strands of peacock herl at the bend.
Tie a brown wet hackle at the bend of the hook and wrap the thread to eye.
Wrap the peacock herl forward, all strands at once to form the body.
Wind the brown hackle forward forming the palmer.
Tie an over wing made from the hairs of a gray squirrel tail.
Cut the excess tail off and tie 2 more peacock herl.
Wind the herl ahead of the wing and tie off.
Tie off and glue the head.

This fly is a variation of the Picket Pin.
