Justus Lake is the center piece of Two
Mile Run County Park. The Lake is north of Oil City on route
428. The turn is about 6 mile from where you start on route 428
and is on the left. There is a sign marking the turn to Two Mile
Run County Park . The lake is a dam on Upper Two Mile Run Creek.
The lake is on the Fish Commissions SELECT TROUT STOCKED LAKE
PROGRAM. Check page 26 of Pennsylvania Summary of fishing
regulations and laws
The dam has trout, bass, muskellunge, walleye, crappies,
and sunfish. Winter time is a good time to ice fishing for the
hardy. It has two late season stocking of trout in October and
November. Small minnows is a good choice for bait. There is a
bait shop on the road into the park.
Justus Lake has a boat access are at the upper
end. The lake is a Electric motors only lake . The lake is a
small deep lake with much of the water between 30 and 60 feet.
During the summer I have found a lot of fish suspended between 15
and 20 feet across from the beach. A lot of trout are caught down
by dam a few days after they are stocked. I have caught a few on
flies in March (Woolly Buggers). Fly fishing can be fun here in
the early spring and late fall when the trout are in the shallow
water. The fly fishing is wonderful in May.
