East Sandy Creek



East Sandy Creek enters the Allegheny River 5 mile south of Franklin. The mouth of East Sandy can be reached via the paved bike trail that follows the river from Oil City to Franklin to Brandon. The streams flows east and west. It starts in Clarion County near the village of Kossoth. Much of stream can be reach via the abandoned rail grade which soon will be bike trail that parallels the stream from where it enters the Allegheny river to the village of Kossoth on route 322. East Sandy can be access from route 322 at the Village of Van. It can be access sr2013 the Rockland Road. This road starts at the intersection of route 257 and 322 at Venango Counties Cranberry Mall. The stream can be approched from the Victory Church Road. This road starts at the village of Victory Heights on route 322 south of Franklin. Game Lands 45 surrounds parts of the stream near Van, PA. on route 322

This stream is a picturesque stream that was polluted but rescued by local sportsman. At one time the Boy Scout Camp , Camp Coffman, was situated along the stream. The camp is now owned by a local church. It is usually stock twice a year, once before season and once in season. Bait fishing is the usual method on East Sandy but there are occasional hatches of Blue Wing Olives, Sulfurs and Cahills on the lower end.
