ALLTEL Long Distance Service and Calling Cards

1. How much is ALLTEL Long Distance Service?
   If you live on campus, ALLTEL can now provide you with different long distance plans to suit your individual needs.  Please refer to the ALLTEL On-Campus Services sheet for complete details and pricing.
   
2. How do I get ALLTEL Long Distance Service?
   If you live on campus, all you have to do is see the form titled "How do I register for my ALLTEL services at Clarion University" enclosed in the ALLTEL Clarion University folder that was sent to you.
   
3. Do I have to us ALLTEL Long Distance Service?
   If you do not want ALLTEL Long Distance, you will have to use a calling card or prepaid card, which may have hidden fees and higher rates.
   
4. How do I use ALLTEL Long Distance Service?
   To make a long distance call, all you do is dial 9 + 1 + the 10-digit telephone number, then you will be prompted for your pin number which we will provide for you when you call ALLTEL to register.  ALLTEL will connect your call quickly and with no hassle, then you will receive a statement each month with a record of the calls you made.
   
5. What about Prepaid Calling Cards?
   ALLTEL offers prepaid calling cards at the Clarion University ALLTEL Technology Services (CATS) Center located in Wilkinson Hall.  Prepaid calling cards from ALLTEL are easy to use and do not contain hidden access charges.  Other carriers' cards may include these fees.  this can quickly use up the time allotted on the card and make the rate per minute higher than what is advertised.  Keep in mind, dialing direct with ALLTEL Long Distance is the easiest and most economical way to complete all your toll calls.  You will get quality service, no interruptions, unlimited time, a great per-minute rate, an easy-to-understand bill of your calls, and you don't have to worry about losing your card.
   

6. What about billing?
   What ALLTEL Long Distance you will get your own separate bill.  Even if you share a room, you will still only be billed for the calls you made!  You can have your bill sent to your address on-campus or to your home address.
   
7. How do I pay my bill?
   You can pay your ALLTEL Long Distance bill by either sending it via US mail in the enclosed ALLTEL billing envelope or you can pay in person at the CATS Center located in Wilkinson Hall.  Off-campus users can also use the CATS Center location.
   
8. If I have a question on my bill, who do I call?
   If you have questions on your ALLTEL Long Distance Bill, you can call the ALLTEL Call Center (toll free) 1-800-255-8357 or visit a representative at the CATS Center located in Wilkinson Hall, Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. til 4:30 p.m.

PLAN 2 - $.05/Minute state-to-state and $.10 in-state + $6.00 mo. fee

PLAN 3 - $.12/Minute all the time anywhere in the continental USA

PLAN 4 - $.10/Minute all the time anywhere in the continental USA, with a flat monthly fee of $4.95

VOICE MAIL                                                                           $6.00/Month
Eliminate the need for unreliable answering machines by subscribing to Voice Mail service from ALLTEL.  ALLTEL offers the convenience of individual voice mailboxes per phone.  This way, students sharing the same residence hall room won't have to share each other's messages too!  ALLTEL recommends that you register for this service now, so your voice mail service will be ready when you arrive for the fall semester.

CABLE TELEVISION                                                              $29.95 + Tax/Month
Cable television is priced per residence hall room.  If you will have a roommate(s) when you arrive on campus, only one student will need to subscribe to cable television.  ALLTEL recommends that you contact your roommate(s) to decide who in the room will take responsibility for registering for this service.  If you are unable to contact your roommate(s), and want to ensure that you will have cable service ready when you move in, ALLTEL recommends that you register for this service now.  If more than one student in the room has registered, determine who will maintain the bill, and simply contact the CATS center to make the necessary adjustments.  Please see additional information included in the folder for details on this service.

HIGH SPEED ETHERNET INTERNET ACCESS                  $18.95/Month
(on campus only)
Please be aware that your computer must be equipped with an Ethernet card for networked service.  Ethernet cards are available for purchase at the CATS Center.  If you are unsure of the specifics of your computer's capabilities, please call 877-519-CATS.  Please see additional information included in folder for details on service.  Dial-up access is also available.

WIRELESS PHONE                                               as low as $14.95/Month
Through our alliance with the University, ALLTEL offers Clarion students, faculty, and staff a special $14.95/60 minute rate plan.  Wireless telephone service is subject to credit approval and requires a one-year service contract.  To activate service, please visit or call the CATS Center toll free at 877-519-CATS.
