In 1991, I purchased a dam-daughter pair of Toggenburgs off of Charlene Hoettler. These does were Gabby and her daughter Shelly. Gabby is now deceased and Shelly is still with me. I can't begin to express how rewarding it has been to have these does in my herd. They have contributed immensely to my breeding program both in body type and milk production. Gabby has been one of my highest producing does with a 3,580 lbs. milk lactation. Her profile can be found in the Toggenburg Reference Doe section. Shelly is a sharp, angular doe with open ribbing and flat bones, good shoulder assembly, level back, very good rump and correct legs. Her mammary system was that of a hard-working doe, with good udder capacity, strong medial support and good udder texture. Her daughters and granddaughters mimic her stately presence - carrying strong linear traits in dairyness and general appearance. Shelly's progeny have continuously improved both in the milk bucket and under the appraiser's critical eye. Daughters and granddaughters are currently scoring 87s, 88s, and 89s in Linear Appraisal. Her daughters and granddaughters repeatedly achieve 3,000+ or near 3,000 pound lactations. Several of her daughters, granddaughters, and great-granddaughters are profiled throughout this sales list. You can find Sheba in the Senior Doe section. I am especially fond of Sheba since she has triumphed over a severe case of mastitis as a two-year-old, when she lost one half of her udder. Despite the illness, she was appraised both that year and the following year with scores of 86 and then 88. . Other Shelly progeny in the Senior Doe section include Shelby, while you can find additional Shelly progeny in this Reference Doe section and a first-freshening daughter in the First Freshener section. |

Bambi was a massive, strong-bodied doe with a wide and nicely angled rump. Her udder, supported by a strong medial suspensory ligament, was capacious and well balanced. In her 6 years of production, her lactations were consistent, boasting a lactation BF average of 4.2%. Prior to freshening as a 4-year-old with mastitis, her halves were evenly balanced and symmetrical. However, her show career ended after that bout with mastitis with only 2 sanctioned legs earned. From her first son born in 1992 who earned an LA of 90 at age 6 to her last daughters born, Bambi's line lives on. |

| Gabby was the dam in the dam/daughter pair I bought back in 1991. This pair has proved to be an excellent foundation for my Toggenburg herd. Gabby was such a wonderfully personable doe with a willingness to milk. Her very capacious mammary system did hang too close to the ground, but she was a short doe. Her daughter Shelly and the offspring that have sprung from this duo have provided me with real rewarding breedings. I still miss Gabby's warm personality and her deep chocolate coloring. Shelly and her daughters abound throughout this sales list. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Stella reenforces the sound conformation of the Shelly pedigree. Strong also in dairyness, she was smoothly blended and stood on very good feet and legs. She was a hard-working milker with a well-balanced udder and nice teat delineation. Her kidding history includes a set of quads, which she delivered very easily and the kids of which were nice sized and very healthy. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

As consistent with Vengence daughter scores, Bellisima linear traits include a stature score of 26, with dairyness at 37. Rump angle is an impressive 32 and rump width scored at 25. Her mammary system is high and wide in the rear and very capacious. The udder is well-balanced and has a nice fore-udder extension. If I could change one thing on her udder it would be her one teat which points to the side. Bellisima's dam, Bellina, is profiled in the Senior Doe section, where it is noted that Bellina was 2000 Breed Leader in Toggenburgs for Butterfat, ranking 8th. |

Bali-Hai is from my Bambi line and a Viper/Vengence descendent. Her LA scores as a dry yearling remain consistent with the other progeny from these breedings. She is dairy and has that awesome Vengence rump width of 7.5 inches. She has improved over her dam Babette's stature of 19, showing here a 28 inch stature. Bali-Hai was a 3-year-old first-freshener. She was sold before appraisal and did not finish her first lactation's milk record here. While here, her DHIA test-day scores were as follows: Freshened March 18, 2003 - 4 milk tests were done: Bali-Hai's mammary system was very capacious with a high rear udder
attachment. She had a nice foreudder extension, but it did have a slight
pocket. She was very strong and had a good depth of barrell, with flat
bones and spring of ribs. Her excellent width was carried throughout
from her fine Toggenburg head back to her wide and nicely-angled rump.

Serenade is the last daughter to be born out of my Shelly, who is listed in the Reference Doe section. Like her dam, Serenade exhibits that long, tall leggy look - with level topline, very good rump, long lean neck, strong Toggenburg head, and standing on solid feet and legs. A Rezado daugher, she also has the curly Togg hair that is strong in the Rezado daughters. Rezado is my homebred buck out of Bambi daughter, Barabara Ann, and a Collegheny buck, Bobby-O. I am excited to have this melding of my two foundation Toggenburg lines. Serenade was sold before appraisal and did not finish her first lactation's milk record here. While here, her DHIA test-day scores were as follows: Freshened March 25, 2003 - 4 milk tests were done: |

Sheila, like her littermate, Shelby (Senior Doe section) is strong in dairyness and general appearance. She is long and level. Carrying a capacious mammary system with strong medial support, Sheila is a hard-working doe. Her first lactation was strong, peaking at 12.5 pounds and carrying a consistent milk weight across the test days with over half of her test days in excess of 10 pounds and finishing her off with a 3052 lb. record at just 291 days. She came back just as strong in her second lactation, showing a 3,178 lbs. for 305 days. She is yet another excellent example of the fine breeding found in my Shelly line.

Another Rezado daughter, Symphony also sports the curly Togg hair. She stands tall and is impressive with the long level back, long lean neck, and long legs. She is daughter to Sheila, who was a Sherry daughter, Sherry being another Shelly daughter. Like Sheila, she has strong width throughout. Sherry had triplets that year - Shelby, one of those triplets, is listed in the Senior Doe section and sister to Sheila. Sheila's profile can be found in the reference doe section and of the three Sherry daughters had the strongest milk records, with 3000 pound lactations in her first two lactations. Unfortunately, when she was sold, she no longer was on DHIR test, so there are no official records for her later lactations. Symphony was sold before appraisal and did not finish her first lactation's milk record here. While here, her DHIA test-day scores were as follows: Freshened April 4, 2003 - 4 milk tests were done: |
